You will get to take a motor boat in the Nile and visit an island, the meeting point of the Nile and the Mediterranean as well as the castle where Rosetta stone was found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1799, the famous \u201cRosetta Stone\u201d was discovered here \u2013 a granite stele with texts incised in three languages, which made a major contribution to deciphering the hieroglyphs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rosetta is considered as a large open-air museum for Islamic architecture. The great number of Islamic monuments found here does not exist in any other city, except for Cairo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately most of these unique monuments are neglected, modern buildings surround them, and the unplanned urbanization also affects them badly, causing much damage. Therefore it is necessary for a great national effort to be made to save them, in order to revive the historical character of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
